Festive stockings

We live in what I call a winter season house.  Being an old Victorian ex-police house, with various extensions having been added on to the sides and back of the house as time has gone by, the internal rooms can seem rather dark, except for the study and kitchen which are the complete opposite (our kitchen is actually a conservatory!).  The darker rooms are great in the warmer months as they keep us cool, but obviously not so good when the temperatures dip.  However, darker days and longer nights bring this home to life once the lights are on, candles and fires are lit - I love it.  Add the Christmas decorations and fairy lights and it really begins to look pretty and welcoming.
Christmas 2012
We've put our tree and decorations up quite early this year.  I find, as I'm sure you'll all agree, that time is flying past far quicker now than it ever has done, and it has felt in the past that once the decorations are up and ready to be enjoyed, they are coming back down and being put away again for another year.  Putting them up earlier will give us an extra couple of weeks to appreciate them for a little longer.  My childhood memory is of sitting on the sofa, lights off, just looking at the twinkling Christmas tree.  I'm making sure I get time to do that this year!  As the days slip by closer and closer to the 25th, it's easy to get caught up in the rush and panic and find you have no time to just sit and look and dream.

Brooches and keyrings seem to be flying out of Ellie's Treasures this Christmas which is exciting.  I'm restocking as fast as my little fingers can sew to bring you new and unique little items that would make fabulous stocking fillers.  Last orders for UK 1st class mailing are for the morning of Wednesday, 19th December, but if possible, please shop before this date as post gets more and more backed up as the month moves along.

This week I'm featuring five pretty Christmas stockings from crafters on Folksy.  We've actually always used a pillow-case for presents - goes back to my childhood, but these stockings are perfect to fill with lovely goodies and surprises on the big day.
