and forget to introduce you to Lola, our latest ex-battery hen! She's been with us a while now and has settled in beautifully. Beginning to lose her feathers a little, but hopefully a new and lush set with quickly appear. We weren't sure what to name our final hen to begin with, especially as she was a sudden purchase, so we put out a plea on Facebook and Twitter and I collected a pretty good list of fabulous names. In the end though, hubs wanted to name her Lola, and that kind of stuck.
She's the first hen we've had to be a bit of an escape artist, finding every available nook and cranny to squeeze through in order to explore away from the vast confines of the garden. Wandering out into the big wide world (well, to the pub garden opposite, next door's garden and a little down the road) gave her that little sense of freedom!! It seems to have stopped now - hopefully she's feeling more accepted by the others - Mrs. Tiggs, Ebb and Flo - and feels the need to escape no longer so appealing.

Aw! Hope Lola is settling in well and hasn't made any more escape bids!
