Spring flowers and other shop news.

This heart shaped brooch is my latest and I love it!  I especially love the floral patterned and shaped wooden button - the ideal flower head I thought.  With the two little tibetan silver butterflies flitting around it I think this brooch is ideal for Spring and Summer (but of course, it's ideal all year through really!) - the bright turquoise felt background would really liven up clothing and bags and makes a unique little accessory.  Available at Ellie's Treasures on Etsy and Folksy.

Did you know that you now don't need to register with Folksy in order to purchase goods from one of the many, many fabulous shops exhibiting on there?  They've now rolled out "guest" log-ins and it's been up and running for a few weeks and is proving to be a big hit.  Also, did you realise that you don't have to have a Paypal account in order to purchase items through Folksy?  As long as you have a debit or credit card, you can click the "Pay Now with Paypal" and follow the instructions on screen to pay with your card instead.  This post on Folksy tells you all about it.

As I'm sure you are aware, due to all the publicity in the news, postage costs have risen.  This is normal each year but this time the price rises have been very high, especially in the small package category.  For those selling heavier items, this has made life a little easier as the weight limit has been stretched considerably for the first bracket, and may even, perhaps, mean postage charges to the customer have come down.  However, to those sellers with small, lightweight items that are just outside the Large Letter bracket, this new postage cost is unacceptable, making item prices much higher for the customer.  Luckily my brooches and keyrings usually make Large Letter size and therefore the postage cost has risen just a tiny bit to cover my extra costs.  For Patchy Pockets fabric wallets however, they are generally in the next bracket and therefore have been hit.  With this in mind I've decided to include the postage costs in my slightly raised overall selling price.  For a hand sewn, unique item, that has been lovingly made with time and care, this new price is still fabulously good and I really hope you agree.
