Bleak and frosty morning

This morning had to be the coldest dog walk since having Poppy.  The air was absolutely freezing and actually, quite uncomfortable.  My hair, a little damp from just having a shower, had frozen into strands of frost (first grey hairs??).  Needless to say, Poppy's walk was a brisk 15 minutes and nothing more.  I thought perhaps we'd reached -7 (-5 being the lowest so far), so turned on the car briefly to see the dashboard readout, -14!  I couldn't believe what I was seeing!  News reports stated that Berkshire was the coldest area in the country with -18.

Although not pleasant to be out in, it was an extremely pretty, Narnia style scene, with hoar frost clinging to everything.  The sun was trying very hard to pierce through the mist, which it eventually managed, at about midday.
Stunning hoar frost
Getting to the yard was slow.  The Landrover didn't even start, and the Picasso managed it after three attempts!  By the time we arrived back home, the read out was -12!
Morning sun (-14 degrees C)
This evening saw a gorgeous deep red sunset across flats with a freezing fog hanging above the horizon.  Magical, but darn cold!

It really is cold isn't it?! Your photos are beautiful though. I always think if I go out with wet or damp hair it'll snap off! Keep warm:) Vic x
