Halloween spookiness

Photobucket

We spent the afternoon and best part of the evening away from home on Saturday, so missed all the calling "trick or treat"ers that may have stopped by our house. We couldn't let our full basket of sweets go to waste, so I hid them around the garden for a late evening treasure hunt, complete with torches and lightsabers! Needless to say, late evening sweet eating is not good for getting children to bed, even if it was much later than usual! We'd had a good afternoon and early evening with relatives, and topped it off with a yummy pizza and free viewing of the local big firework display.

Mr. Pumpkin head!

We were lucky enough to produce three pumpkins ourself this year in the veggie plot. Although all were rather small (compared to the huge ones in the supermarkets this year), they were very special because we'd grown them ourselves. Being small also meant less of the messy innards to scrape out and just enough seeds to sprinkle with salt and grill for a few mins. - yum.

Katie and I did a bit of Halloween inspired art for the October culture wall. We each did a monochrome pumpkin and Katie did the lovely crayon pumpkins and spooky village scene using water and coffee, all from this lovely inspiring website.
