Stanwick Lakes social get together

We caught one of the few warmish last days of summer on 1st October and headed out to Stanwick Lakes (close to Thrapston, just passed Oundle). Always a brilliant day out when we go here, this time we met up with four other home ed families for a picnic, play and natter.

Stanwick, which now has a fabulous new cafe area with shop and meeting rooms, still pull the children with its outdoor natural adventure play area. They are also running educational group sessions like den building which we, as a group, are thinking of exploring further.

We left once we all got too chilly, gradually adding layers of clothing and picnic rugs to our bodies to keep warm as we chatted about our lives, home ed and, as always, picking up lots of tips and advice during the time spent together. I think the children (with rolled up trousers and wet feet from all the water play) could have stayed far longer. It never ceases to amaze me how they all get along so well, whatever their ages, they just muck in and work alongside each other (well, for 99% of the time anyway).
